Arromanches
Arromanches is famous as place of battle during the unloading, in particular for the artificial harbour which was installed there. This port made it possible to unload 9000 tons of material per day.
It is on a beach of Arromanches that, at the time of the unloading of Normandy, the Allies established a provisional artificial harbour in order to allow the unloading of heavy material, without awaiting the conquest of deep water ports, such as Le Havre or Cherbourg.
